Seasons Change: Introducing our new team member, new look & new services.

It’s my absolute pleasure to announce that after filling my glass full of Limonata the last 8 years, Nate and I are now officially a team of two!

Nate & I in Rome, Italy during our European study abroad programs - Spring 2007

After selling our home and traveling the world we came back itching for change...

Behind the scenes, my best friend/husband/partner-in-crime @natebachmann has always been a big part of what has allowed this little 🍋 to ripen.

Whether it’s been helping with graphic design needs, schlepping props, making surfaces, scheming/dreaming or helping me navigate the challenges of running a small business, Nate has been there.

I thought it was a pipe dream to think we could ever join forces or merge our talents into 1, but after traveling the world together for 6 months, then training with me for 1.5 years once we returned home, I’m proud to say Nate knows this business - it’s rewards, pain points & everything in between - backwards + forwards, just like I do.

Nate & I on an overnight cruise in Hạ Long Bay, Vietnam - May 2022

In addition to that, I’m honored to now include Nate’s skill sets as an uber talented graphic & branding designer, with decades of experience, to our services.

Prior to Limonata, Nate served as a Senior Designer & Branding Director at esteemed Baltimore-based studio, Younts Design Inc. for 7 years. There he worked with a plethora of hospitality, restaurant & urban development clients. This was after working in NYC, where he created original designs for world-renowned brands such as Levis, American Eagle, Harley Davidson & Yahoo!

Welcome to Limonata, Nate! Our recipe just got a whole lot zestier with you in it!

Speaking of our updated recipe…

Nate breaks down our new look:

As creatives we are influenced and inspired by so many things and it changes from day to day which makes it a difficult task to assess our own visual look & feel. One thing we knew is that we wanted to be ourselves and nobody else. So we put ourselves through our own questionnaire that we use to help our clients with their Brand Strategy. Going through this process was a road to self discovery that helped narrow our focus and ultimately informed our new aesthetic.

THE LOGOTYPE / WORDMARK

Our former hand drawn script logo was unique, dynamic and served us well but we felt it was time for a change. Our new custom logotype is slightly understated with a little wiggle that looks familiar and yet different. It begs you to look a little closer and notice its subtle quirks that flow throughout. Do you see the lemon wedge?

We also made the decision to drop ‘creative’ from our brand mark. We are still ‘Limonata Creative’ and ‘creative’ is and always will be innately part of who we are. We both noticed that our clients refer to us simply as Limonata and we wanted to embrace that abbreviation as a strength.

THE LEMON BLOSSOM

We look at things closely, peel back layers and try to find unique ways to visualize or tell a story. Rather than using a lemon fruit as a symbol we chose a lemon blossom which has many positive spiritual meanings throughout the world including growth, healing, prosperity, fidelity in love, etc.

THE CLASSY GLASSY

Why do we just have to have one symbol? Answer is we don’t. Limonata is lemonade in Italiano so this cheeky little glass with a lemon wedge is just that! Continue sipping and it stays half full.

What we created for ourselves we can make for you and more!

Introducing our new services:

When receiving inquiries for potential art direction and styling jobs I often first look at the branding, website, and packaging of the client or product. When the design work looks great I’m that much more jazzed to hop on board with them. Now we have the ability to not only help our clients create content and amazing imagery but we can elevate their brand identity whether they’re starting from scratch or in need of a refresh!

Brand Strategy

“Cultivate the root; the leaves and branches will take care of themselves.” - Confucius

Before design even starts we identify the core building blocks that will center your brand and lead to sustained growth:

  • Overview

  • Mission

  • Positioning

  • Character / Tone

  • Target

Brand / Product Naming

“Using letters & words to form a bridge to lasting connections.”

When developing a name we consider many factors including:

  • Meaning

  • Depth

  • Visual Quality

  • Flexibility

  • Sound

  • Energy

  • Distinctiveness

Brand Visual Identity

“Be yourself; Everyone else is taken.” - Oscar Wilde

Many people perceive a brand to be a logo but so much more goes into what creates a consistent visual language to represent a brand:

  • Logo Family

  • Typography

  • Color Palette

  • Supplementary Graphics

Brand Design

“Design is the silent ambassador of your brand.” - Paul Rand

Once a visual identity is established it can be flexed and applied across a wide variety of media:

  • Website Design

  • Presentation Templates

  • Print / Stationary Design

  • Packaging Design

  • Environmental Graphics

Take a peek at some of our latest Brand Identity work in the wild!

Nate and I recently collaborated on our first shared client project. The wonderful & talented DC based interior designer Regan Billingsley Interiors hired us as a duo. She tasked me with Art Direction and Interior Styling. Then turned to Nate who created her new Brand Identity, Website Design, and Print Collateral.

Nate worked with friend, food stylist and recipe developer Diana Jeffra of Culina Creative to reposition her business which included developing a new name, brand strategy, brand identity and website design to help put her in a position to grow and reach new audiences.

Dig into a small sampling of some of our recent logo design work:

The title of this post was inspired by one of our favorite bands, Future Islands, and their hit song ‘Seasons (Waiting on you)’

These changes have us dancing for joy and we can’t wait what this next season will bring!

XOXO,
